Tata Motors has announced the launch of its legendary Sierra in an electric avatar. This new Tata Sierra EV will not only bring back memories of the 90s, but will also set a new standard in the Indian electric vehicle market with modern technology and luxury features. Unveiled in January 2025, this car is expected to be available in the market by September 2025.
Design and Exterior Styling
The Tata Sierra EV brings a bold and muscular design like its predecessor. The LED light bar and stylish DRLs at the front of the car are its special identity. Flush-fitting door handles have further enhanced its premium look, while diamond-cut alloy wheels enhance its sporty appeal. Like the old Sierra, it has a glass roof, but it has been updated according to the new safety standards.
Interior and Comfort
On the inside, the Sierra EV is completely modern and tech-savvy. Premium materials have been used along with a digital instrument cluster and touchscreen infotainment system. The car has two and three-row seating options, making it an ideal SUV for family users. Features like panoramic sunroof, ventilated second row seats and power tailgate take comfort to a new level.
Performance and Battery
The Sierra EV uses the same powertrain as the Harrier EV. It has 65kWh and 75kWh battery options, which are suitable for medium and long distances respectively. With a dual-motor QWD setup, this car generates 504Nm of torque. With fast-charging support, this car charges from 0-80% in a few minutes, while providing a range of up to 400-500km on a full charge.
Safety and Technology
Safety features include 6 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC) and strong built quality. In terms of technology, advanced features like Level 2 ADAS, 360-degree camera and connected car technology have been provided. Although it has not yet undergone NCAP crash test, looking at Tata’s previous cars, a 5-star rating can be expected in it.
Price and Competition
Talking about the price, with an estimated ex-showroom price of Rs 25 to 30 lakh, this car will give a direct competition to cars like MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona Electric. Available in white, red and black color options. This car can set a new benchmark in the Indian electric SUV market.
