Flashes: If you are tired of running Instagram, then a new app has come for you, which is called Flashes. This is a new, latest app based on Bluesky. It is available on the App Store. According to TechCrunch, the app offers a decentralised and algorithm-free experience. This also gives users more control over the visual content.

The Flashes app is based on Bluesky’s AT protocol. However, it is not new to Bluesky’s core team but has been created by third-party developer Sebastian Vogelasang based in Berlin. The app is available for free on the App Store for iPhones running iOS 17 or higher. However, there is no word on when the Android version will be available.
What are the features and functionality of Flashes?
Posting photos and videos on the Flashes app also has the same conditions as on Bluesky. Users used to be able to post up to four images and one minute of video, but now after the update of Bluesky version 1.99, now up to three minutes of video can be uploaded. Unlike other social media apps, any posts made on Flashes will also be visible on Bluesky. Also, comments and interactions will be synchronised on both platforms.

How Flash is different from Instagram.
The interface of Flashes looks similar to Instagram, with features such as a scrollable feed, image filters, and user profiles. One big difference is that new networks do not have to be built on Flashes, and users also get connected to the Bluesky community.
You can browse more than 50,000 custom feeds of Bluesky in Flashes. Posts can also be liked and retweeted.

How to create an account for Flashes
A BlueSky account is required for Flashes. If you already have a Bluesky account, you can log in with credentials. You can create a Bluesky account from the Flashes app; for this, you have to add an email, password and date of birth. Once logged in, you can browse the Bluesky timeline or any custom feed.
